Mobile tracking apps (Android & iOS)
Set up a mobile app so a phone or tablet can report straight to Bolt.
If you want a phone-based tracker, the official Traccar mobile app can report in to Bolt from Android or iOS. It is a simple fallback when you do not want to run BoltReporter on Windows.
What you need
- An Android or iOS device with internet access
- The official app from the App Store or Google Play
- Your Bolt Device API Token
Get your Device API Token
- Log into your My Devices page.
- Find the device you created (for example, “SigRig”).
- Tap Reveal or Copy next to the token.
- Keep this token private; you will paste it into the app.
Install and configure the app
- Install the official app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Open the app and set Server URL to
https://bolt-ingest.lightni.ng. This is the only URL Bolt accepts. - Paste your Device API Token into the identifier or token field used by your app version.
- Enable background reporting and choose a reasonably frequent update interval for live tracking.
- If the app lets you name the device locally, use a clear label so it is easy to match with your Bolt device entry.
Keep the app alive
Battery optimization, low-power mode, and background-location restrictions can stop reports even when the app looks configured correctly. After setup, walk outside for a minute and confirm the device is updating on My Devices or in the map.
When to use it
- Your main laptop is unavailable and you need quick location sharing.
- You want teammates or guests to report their position from their own phones.
- You need a light, non-Windows option during travel or equipment swaps.
After the chase
- Stop or disable reporting when you are done so the device stops sending location updates.
